Features of steel tunnel formwork

Modules
Konosch products are constructed in modules. Each module is 1200 mm in length. The upright height is 2380 mm or 2550 mm. For higher walls, attachment components can be added where the height is dependent on the storey height.

Transport
This modular construction allows for the transport of large quantities of formwork (approximately 100 m2) on a semi-low flatbed. This helps to keep transportation costs down.

Construction
The tunnel formwork is delivered to the construction site fully ready for use. The modules are constructed for the required concrete wall lengths and housing unit widths. Mounting apertures are provided in the formwork for accessories and installation fixtures. After assembly is completed on the construction site, the formwork is ready for use.

It is relatively easy to modify the formwork to different dimensions regarding length and width. Konosch can offer a variety of options for this purpose, and these can even be implemented by the contractor. The tunnel formwork is easily adjusted to the desired height by using a five tonne lifting jack.

Konosch can provide tunnels up to a width of approximately 8500 mm. It is also possible (for larger widths) to use tunnels as a half-tunnel system.

Finishing work
After the formwork has been used on a project, it is overhauled so that it can be used again. The steel surface is ground to a smooth finish and any apertures are welded shut. The formwork is now ready to be reused. The thickness of the steel plate surface (4 mm) ensures that any deformation is minimal, resulting in a long product lifespan. The greatest advantage here is that the concrete walls require practically no finishing work.
